Free electricity from photovoltaic solar panels. Smart!
When we consider financial savings to be had producing & storing free electricity, while also playing a role in the reduction of carbon emissions, installing PV panels in your home makes perfect sense.
Learn how solar PV works in your home.

Solar PV Panels
PV panels function by absorbing daylight and using it to create free electricity. Currents created by all of the panels combined adds up to enough electricity to help power your home.

System Shunt
A solar PV system shunt is a safety mechanism that functions as a circuit breaker. It provides a means to disconnect your electricity supply during an emergency, ensuring safety for you and your home.

Power inverter
The raw energy that is generated from the panels is referred to as DC or direct current. The inverter converts DC into AC electricity (alternating current) for storage and use around your home.

Distribution Board
Your solar panel system is connected directly to your homes distribution (fuse board). Simply put, this is a control panel center for the entire electrical system of the home or business.

Power Diverter
The Eddi is a smart device that channels surplus solar electricity to your immersion heater, ensuring you use every bit of your free energy to heat water instead of exporting it to the grid.

Battery Storage
Highly advanced batteries retain the free electricity sent from your power Inverter. Here it is stored for later use. This eliminates renewable electricity from being exported back to the grid.

Monitoring
Solar PV phone and computer applications provide you with real time information and historical data allowing you to understand your generation from your panels and how it is used in your building.

Car Chargers
Optional. The EV charger is a smart, eco-friendly solution for electric vehicles.
Solar EV chargers and Some FAQ’S
Can I charge without solar?
Yes, you can use your zappi car charger to charge your car without solar. It will simply take power from the grid and charge your car like a conventional electric car charger. With the added benefit of being ready for solar charging if you were to get PV in the future!
How long does it take to charge an EV?
This depends on the capacity of the vehicle’s battery (measured in kWh) and the charging power (measured in kW). For example, with an average 54kWh battery, a 50kW public charger would take about 64 minutes to reach a full 100% charge, while a standard 7kW home charger would take approximately 7 hours and 42 minutes.
How much does it cost to charge an EV?
Based on 54kWh, the average cost to fully charge an electric car from empty to full is around €9.10 whilst the average monthly cost to keep an EV charged would be around €36.00. This data is based on fully charging your EV once per week at home.
How far can an EV go on a single charge?
Is it cheaper to charge my EV at night?
Yes. By using an EV charger with a timer, you can schedule charging during off-peak hours when electricity tariffs are lowest, saving money.
