Maximising Power & Savings:
In today’s competitive industrial landscape, transitioning to green energy is no longer just a trend, it’s a core strategic move. For Irish manufacturers, balancing heavy production demands with soaring energy costs requires bold, innovative solutions.
A standout example of this sustainable shift is featured in the latest Irish Steel Report (Q1 2026), profiling a landmark collaboration between precision engineering pioneers EliteForm Manufacturing and commercial renewable energy specialists Elite Energies
Here is how we teamed up to deliver a masterclass in clean energy adoption.
The Legacy Meets the Future
Since 1974, EliteForm Manufacturing has been a cornerstone of precision engineering in Ireland. Their structural expertise has contributed to massive landmark projects, including the Aviva Stadium and the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Under the leadership of Managing Director Sandra Byrne, sustainability has long been on the agenda—with the company first exploring solar energy back in 2006. Fast forward to today, and that vision has become a reality.
“100% go for sustainable electricity. It’s the future.” > — Sandra Byrne, Managing Director, EliteForm Manufacturing
Engineering the Solution: 150kW Solar + 300kW Battery Storage
To tackle EliteForm’s energy goals, Elite Energies designed and deployed a comprehensive commercial renewable system, featuring a 150kW Solar PV system paired with 300kW of Sigenergy battery storage.
This setup officially marks the largest Sigenergy installation in Ireland.
Overcoming Grid Constraints with SigenStack
Heavy manufacturing often faces strict grid export constraints. By utilizing the advanced SigenStack modular battery system, EliteForm can seamlessly capture, store, and maximize their own on-site generation. This setup tackles grid limitations head-on via:
Peak Shaving: Cutting down on premium electricity rates during peak demand windows.
Load Optimisation: Efficiently shifting and distributing stored power when the factory needs it most.
Energy Resilience: Ensuring continuous, secure power to keep production lines running smoothly.
High Impact, Minimal Disruption
Moving an industrial facility to solar requires seamless execution. Elite Energies managed the entire process from initial consultation through to final installation.
The financial architecture was arranged through Close Brothers Commercial Finance via a GSLS Green Loan, creating a viable, fundable project built for long-term endurance.
“We’re proud to have worked with sustainability experts Elite Energies in providing EliteForm Manufacturing with this key solar and modular battery storage system, supporting their environmental commitments.” > — Gavin Smith, Head of Sales at Close Brothers Commercial Finance
The entire deployment was coordinated to be fast and straightforward, ensuring minimal disruption to EliteForm’s daily precision manufacturing operations.
The Transformative Results
The integration of solar power and heavy-duty battery storage has immediately reshaped EliteForm’s operational efficiency:
~€45,000 in projected annual energy savings, keeping capital right where it belongs—in the business.
Future-Proofing Infrastructure, laying a solid foundation for upcoming site expansions and technology investments.
A Broader Eco-System, with the project tying into a wider sustainability program that includes rainwater harvesting and EV charging infrastructure.
